RadioShack Rolls Out Baseball Promotion

DALLAS RadioShack will launch its second annual Xtreme Baseball Fan Contest next month in conjunction with former Major Leaguers Cal Ripken Jr. and his brother, Bill.

The Ripkens and the Fort Worth, Texas-based retailer are asking fans to send in stories, descriptions, pictures and video accounts of themselves exhibiting their dedication and commitment to their favorite baseball team, RadioShack said in a statement. National radio and print ads in sports magazines will support the promotion.

RadioShack, an official sponsor of Major League Baseball, will provide the first prizewinner a trip for four to the MLB All-Star Week in Chicago in July, where they will meet the Ripkens. The runner-up will receive a trip for two to the minor league Cal Ripkin World Series Championship Game in Aberdeen, Md., on Aug. 24.

RadioShack, which handles advertising through its Circle R Group, will break a television spot next month featuring the Ripkens and Cal’s daughter that focuses on digital imaging.
