Teddy Hayes has joined Hispanic independent La Agencia de Orcí & Asociados as vice president and media director. Based in the agency’s Los Angeles office, Hayes will work with the shop’s national and global clients, as well as accounts such as the Children’s Bureau of Southern California and the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund. She was most recently vp, group media director at Interpublic Group’s Foote Cone & Belding in Irvine.
Olivia Smith has become senior vice president at Bennett Kuhn Varner. Smith previously held the title of vice president at the Atlanta-based agency. She will oversee a group that works on a number of nonprofit accounts like American Red Cross, Knox Area Rescue Ministries, Make-A-Wish Foundation and Project Hope.
Gearon Hoffman has promoted Emily Weber to account supervisor from senior account executive.
Modernista! said it has hired Tim Blount as a junior Web designer on various agency accounts. Prior to joining the Boston-based independent ad agency, Blount served in the interactive department of Allen & Gerritsen in Watertown.
Craig Rodriguez has been appointed vice president, marketing, for the North American dental division of Astra Tech Inc., a medical-device company based in Waltham.
MDC Partners agency Colle + McVoy has hired Glenn Gray as group creative director. Reporting to executive creative director Mike Fetrow, Gray will initially work on the Minneapolis shop’s Nestlé-Purina account. He was most recently a freelancer who began his career in New York and worked in Atlanta at Earle Palmer Brown. Gray has also worked at Minneapolis agencies Carmichael Lynch and Clarity Coverdale Fury.
Karen Sauder has been promoted at Zipatoni as president of the agency. Most recently executive vice president and general manager at the promotional marketing company’s St. Louis headquarters, Sauder will oversee the agency’s operations in Chicago, San Francisco, Dallas and Philadelphia. During her seven years at Zipatoni, Sauder has managed the shop’s largest accounts as well as played an integral role in new business. Prior to joining Zipatoni in 1998, Sauder worked for Frito-Lay and Anheuser-Busch.
Michael Schwartzman has joined The Star Group in Cherry Hill as partner and senior vice president of account management in the packaged-goods division. Most recently, Schwartzman was vice president of account services at The Topspin Group in Princeton, where he worked on accounts such as Twinings Tea, Pinnacle Foods and Best Friends Petcare.
Masterminds Advertising, a full-service, fully integrated marketing and advertising agency, announced the promotions of two account coordinators, Jamie Thomas and Melissa Riebel, to account executives. The agency also announced the appointment of Angella Sadler, a former intern, to the position of account coordinator. Sadler graduated from Richard Stockton College of New Jersey with a B.S. in business and marketing.

Fried, former chief revenue officer, national TV, to the new post of vice president of NetCosts Services, the first independent national TV advertising expenditure database based on actual transactions. Prior to working with SQAD, Fried worked for ABC in various senior management positions.
Najeeb Ahmad joins MediaVest in the newly formed position of director of human resources and organizational development. Most recently, Ahmad served as director, strategic staffing at Bristol-Myers Squibb.
Boone/Oakley has named Molly Philpott traffic manager on all accounts. Prior to joining the Charlotte shop, Philpott was a production manager for Mike Carroll Photography. The agency has also hired Charissa Ragot as an account coordinator for Dialog Telecommunications and Bloom. Ragot previously was an assistant producer at NBC News Channel’s national production facilities in Charlotte.
Brothers & Co. has named Natasha Vesanen account coordinator. Vesanen joins the Tulsa agency from HKH Advertising, where she interned as a graphic designer. Stephanie Norsworthy has been added as the assistant to the president and account coordinator. Norsworthy had internships with the Oklahoma City All Sports Association and Tulsa’s Goodwin & Grant PR, Marketing, Advertising.
SFGT in Philadelphia has assigned Jason Alan Snyder to the new agencywide position of head of technology and strategy. He is formerly director of design for America Online.
Tribal DDB in Dallas has appointed Bryan Daniel senior project manager. Previously, he was an engagement manager at Experion. Jesse Collard, Tracy Nguyen and Billi Ryan have arrived as project managers. Collard was president of Dynamic Layouts in Dallas. Nguyen was a marketing project manager at Informatics. Ryan most recently worked at Slingshot as an account executive. Karl Dunkelman has joined the agency as assistant project manager.
Entertainment and marketing studio Smashing Ideas in Seattle has named Brian Burke managing director, corporate development. Burke served as vice president of syndication at AtomShockwave, a digital entertainment marketing and distribution corporation he helped launch in 2001.
Independent Milwaukee agency Boelter + Lincoln has promoted Chad Kenny to assistant account executive. Most recently an account coordinator at the Milwaukee shop, Kenny began his career at the agency as an intern in January 2004. In his new position, Kenny will work on several of the shop’s accounts, including Port Washington State Bank, Northcentral Technical College and The Milwaukee Mile.
