ATLANTA Hambright, Calcagno & Downing will continue to handle advertising for the City of Portsmouth, Va., the agency said.

The Virginia Beach, Va., agency participated in a mandatory review that began with more than a dozen area shops. HC&D defended the business, valued at $500,000, against finalists including crosstown rival Cortani Morrison; Davis & Co. in Norfolk, Va.; and Carter Ryley Thomas in Richmond, Va.

HC&D said it will continue to develop and execute advertising initiatives for the 250-year-old Virginia seaport’s convention and visitors bureau, economic development department and city museums.
