Measured media spending was $40 million in 2007, per Nielsen Monitor-Plus.
The Atlanta-based client could not be reached for comment. The contenders and scope of the review were not immediately known.
A representative for incumbent independent FKM, Houston, said that the agency would not defend the national business, but would likely retain local franchise assignments. She referred all other questions to Popeyes CMO Dick Lynch.
The review was first uncovered by the industry blog Agency Spy.
The AFC Enterprises chain reported first-quarter net income of $6.5 million with a system-wide sales increase of 1.5 percent. The chain operates 1,889 restaurants nationwide.
