PODS Ships Creative, Media

NEW YORK Independent M&C Saatchi has won advertising duties for PODS Inc. following a review involving undisclosed agencies, the client confirmed, saying that Round2 of Los Angeles will handle media.

Sources estimated the media spend at $10 million. PODS, which stands for Portable on Demand Storage, provides mobile containers for storage and moving.

Allen & Gerritsen, an independent agency in Watertown, Mass., was the last shop to handle advertising for the St. Petersburg, Fla., client, which services residential and commercial customers in Atlanta, Charlotte, N.C., Dallas, Daytona, Fla., and Denver.

In a statement, client COO Paul Umberg said, “M&C Saatchi demonstrated a unique passion and understanding of our business. They have illustrated true insight into continuing the positive brand recognition in the United States as well as providing PODS with international market positioning.”

PODS’ services include a hydraulic lift system that minimizes the amount of shift in contents of a container during moving. The company claims 380,000 customers in 43 states.

Jenifer Willig, managing director at M&C Saatchi in New York, said in a statement, “We are very excited to be a part of such a successful company. PODS’ forward thinking and innovation has dramatically changed the face of the moving and storage industry.”

The win comes just as the agency network lost the $100 million British Airways account to BBH after a review.
