Platinum Suspends Its IT Review Pending Buyout

Platinum Technology’s review for creative duties on its $10 million business-to-business account is on hold pending a buyout, company officials said.
Computer Associates International, Islandia, N.Y., last month announced its intention to buy the Oakbrook Terrace, Ill., software company for $3.5 billion. Tom Russell, Platinum’s director of advertising and promotion, said the review has been suspended until the deal is completed.
Left hanging are San Francisco shops Young & Rubicam and Arnold Ingalls Moranville, Sicola-Martin in Austin, Texas, and possibly two other agencies.
Platinum helps companies manage and improve their information technology systems with software and consulting. The company had no previous shop. –Aaron Baar
