Pile Elevates Colbert

BOSTON Chris Colbert has been named managing partner of consultancy Pile and Co. a year after joining in the new position of chief marketing officer, the company said.

In addition to his responsibility for new product and brand development, he will provide strategic leadership to the staffing division, which includes freelance staffing through units Communications Collaborative, Executive Search and Bridge Marketing. Colbert, 47, also manages some client relationships in the consulting division led by company president Judy Neer.

“Fundamentally, we are in the knowledge business. Our major focus is on expanding our modes of delivery and services while also extending our reach and impact,” Colbert said.

“Chris has been a major contributor to the double-digit growth we’ve achieved over the past year,” said Rick Hooker, company CEO, in a statement. “His broader role at Pile and Co. will only serve to accelerate that growth as we strengthen our service offerings and our range of products.”

Prior to Pile and Co., Colbert operated his own Boston-based consultancy. He also served as president of Holland Mark, which in the late 1990s reigned as one of the region’s largest independent ad shops.

Pile and Co. is currently conducting reviews for clients including Comcast, EarthLink and Panasonic worth nearly $400 million in combined billings.
