Peterson Leads Hammer in Greensboro

ATLANTA Hammer Communications recently opened an office in Greensboro, N.C., that will be run by veteran advertising executive Gordon Peterson.

The new location, a three-story brick townhouse in the business district of Greensboro, began operations last month. Peterson, managing director, and his staff of 10 will work on the agency’s Westminster Homes and Fortis accounts, the Washington, D.C.-based shop said.

Peterson, 55, has more than 20 years of agency experience that includes stops at Interpublic Group’s Bozell and independent Mezzina Brown & Partners, both in New York. He has worked on accounts such as Merrill Lynch, Avis, Walt Disney Co. and Newsweek.

Prior to joining Hammer, Peterson was vice president and director of client services at Walt Klein & Associates in Winston Salem, N.C.

Peterson, who noted the Southeast is well known for its financial services, pharmaceutical, furniture and home-building industries, said he would focus on exploring new business opportunities in the region.

“I moved to North Carolina four years ago because it’s an exciting market and a wonderful place to live and work,” Peterson said. “My charge with Hammer is to broaden its client base and get them involved in other categories.”
