Page Thompson, previously North American CEO of Omnicom’s OMD, has been promoted to the new post of CEO of Omnicom Media Group North America.
The bulk of Thompson’s prior duties have been assumed by Alan Cohen, who joined OMD earlier this year as CEO of U.S. operations.
Omnicom Media Group CEO Daryl Simm, to whom Thompson will continue to report, disclosed the promotion in a memo to staffers Tuesday afternoon.
Simm wrote that with the promotion Thompson would take on a number of new direct reports overseeing diversified and corporate services. They include Jill Botway, who oversees the shop’s customer relationship marketing companies; Steve Grubbs, who heads the Omnicom U.S. entertainment and sports units; Jennifer Razor, head of U.S. business development; and U.S. human resources chief Kathleen Brookbanks.
Thompson will also oversee the OMD and PHD North American operations “in conjunction with the global leaders of those agencies,” Simm said.
A 28-year agency veteran, Thompson was appointed CEO OMD N.A. in 2002. Previously, he was the shop’s strategy chief and before that he was worldwide media director at sister creative shop DDB.
Thompson assumes his new post Jan. 1.
