Out Of This World

Talk about an opportunity to show off one’s creative chops. The Romann Group has landed a $5 million account for Mars 2112, a futuristic theme restaurant that gives patrons a spaceship ride to the Red Planet on their way to dinner.
The biggest challenge will be producing an ad campaign that matches the wackiness of the client, said Gad Romann, chief creative officer. (When the restaurant first opened last summer, it employed a man in a space suit to get passersby to try the place.) “We’re going to have a lot of fun with this one,” Romann said.
The agency is hoping to roll out its first wave of print and TV advertising by mid-May, to coincide with the May 19 release of Star Wars: The Phantom Menace.
The campaign will begin in New York, where the flagship restaurant is located, and will roll out nationally in markets such as Washington, D.C. and Chicago as the chain expands. –Justin Dini
