O’Reilly to Sponsor Southland Sports

DALLAS O’Reilly Automotive has been named the title sponsor of the O’Reilly Auto Parts Southland Conference basketball tournament, the company said.

Under the multi-year agreement, the automotive retailer will receive naming rights and become a featured television sponsor of the league’s 2005, 2006 and 2007 college men’s and women’s basketball championships.

O’Reilly’s media package includes 20 minutes of commercials that will air during Southland Conference football and basketball games on Fox Sports Net Southwest; 35 regional radio spots; print ads; and opening and closing billboard announcements on all broadcasts. In addition, the O’Reilly logo will be displayed on both ends of the basketball court, as well as on the bench chair backs and across the scorer’s table.

“With our company’s growth in Texas and Louisiana, we have been looking at different ways to get into those markets,” said Ron Byerly, O’Reilly’s director of advertising. “We believe that NCAA basketball provides a great avenue.”

Based in Plano, Texas, the Southland Conference consists of 11 member institutions in Texas and Louisiana. Schools in the NCAA Division 1 conference are Lamar University, Sam Houston State University, Stephen F. Austin State University, Texas State University at San Marcos, the University of Texas at Arlington, the University of Texas at San Antonio, McNeese State University, Nicholls State University, Northwestern State University, Southeastern Louisiana University and the University of Louisiana at Monroe.

The O’Reilly Auto Parts Southland Conference basketball tourney will air March 7-13, 2005. Financial terms of the sponsorship are undisclosed.
