One Show Recognizes Southwest Shops

DALLAS Four Southwest ad agencies have been awarded One Show Pencils.

Independent The Richards Group in Dallas picked up a gold Pencil for its “Business Talk” radio spot for Motel 6. Its “Pets” spot on behalf of the same client earned the shop an award of merit.

Omnicom’s GSD&M in Austin, Texas, won a silver Pencil for its 7-Eleven ad “Fingers” in the category of TV spots under 20 seconds. It also picked up a bronze for its outdoor “Starving” ad, which it created for the Peace Council. In addition, the shop received six awards of merit for work on behalf of 7-Eleven, the Air Force, Dial, Land Rover of North America and Southwest Airlines.

Independent Rick Johnson & Company of Albuquerque, N.M., earned a bronze Pencil for its public service television spot “Driver’s Ed. Boy,” which the shop created for the New Mexico Traffic Safety Bureau.

Lastly, independent Stone Ward in Little Rock, Ark., was recognized with an award of merit for “Coming Soon, Future Home,” a full-page magazine ad for the Arkansas Nature Conservancy.

Top creative directors from around the world judged the One Show Awards, which were presented May 9 in New York.
