Omnicom’s OMD has hired Mainardo de Nardis as worldwide CEO, a post that has been vacant since early 2007. He reports to Daryl Simm, CEO of Omnicom Media Group.
De Nardis is relocating to New York to take on the new role. Most recently, he was CEO of Aegis Media, a post he assumed in 2006 and left in the spring.
Prior to Aegis, de Nardis had been global CEO at WPP Group’s Mediaedge:cia. He had helmed MEC with chairman Charles Courtier since the agencies merged following WPP’s acquisition of CIA parent Tempus in 2002.
At OMD, he replaces Joe Uva, who departed 18 months ago to run Univision, the Los Angeles-based Spanish-language TV network. In the interim, Simm assumed global CEO duties at OMD in addition to his job overseeing Omnicom’s overall media assets.
In a staff memo, Simm said that the “trend toward global client relationships is accelerating. Mainardo’s deep experience and global perspective provides the leadership that OMD needs to continue to stay in front of this trend and to provide our clients with the very best in global service.”
