Ogilvy Hires Stepanek for Ford

Ogilvy & Mather here has enlisted marketing veteran Steve Stepanek as one of the leaders of its $15 million Ford corporate account.

Stepanek, most re-cently director of sales operations at the Audi Division of Volkswagen of America, takes over as executive group director, senior partner and head of the Ford Customer Service Division account at Ogilvy.

Jan Starr, managing director of Ogilvy De-troit, which has offices in Dearborn, Mich., said Stepanek “brings a wonderful breadth of marketing communications capability” to the agency.

Prior to his stint at Audi, Stepanek was senior vice president, group director on Chrysler-Plymouth at Ross Roy Communications, now InterOne Marketing Group in Troy, Mich. He also was a management director at J. Walter Thompson Detroit, handling the Goodyear Tire & Rubber account.

Stepanek’s background includes experience in Web strategy, sales planning, marketing research, permission marketing and new product development, as well as new business development.

Ford spent $15 million on corporate advertising in 1999, according to Competitive Media Reporting, and $10 million through the first seven months of 2000.
