Oberlander Joins Ogilvy

NEW YORK–Bill Oberlander has joined Ogilvy & Mather as a senior partner, executive creative director, effective Sept. 17. The former managing partner, ecd of Kirshenbaum & Bond Partners, becomes senior partner and the New York office’s sixth ecd.

Oberlander, 41, an art director, will partner with writer Dan Burrier on such accounts as Motorola, Perrier and Cotton as well as help Burrier run the shop’s
“Young Guns” program, which develops new creative talent.

Oberlander worked for 11 years at Kirshenbaum on such accounts as Target Stores, Snapple and Rockport.

In a statement, Oberlander said, “Ogilvy & Mather is the only agency in New York where I wanted to work. From David Ogilvy to the executive creative directors [of] today, the DNA of the agency is all about great creative work.”

Before joining Kirshenbaum, Oberlander spent five years at McCann-Erickson in New York, working on such accounts as AT&T, Shearson-Lehman Brothers, Sony and Lufthansa Airlines. Before that, he spent five years at McCaffrey & McCall.

Ogilvy’s other clients include, American Express, IBM, AT&T Wireless, SAP, Ford Motor Company, BP, Motorola, Unilever, Kraft, Kimberly Clark, Kodak and
Sears.
