N.Y.C. Comptroller Says No to Snapple

New York City Comptroller William C. Thompson Jr. last week urged the city and Board of Education to cancel two deals that would make Snapple its exclusive beverage vendor. In a letter, Thompson cited what he deemed to be a conflict of interest between IPG unit Octagon, which acted as the city’s consultant, and Snapple owner Cadbury-Schweppes, an Octagon client. Snapple shop Deutsch is owned by IPG. David Bober, Octagon director of business development and special projects, said, “We didn’t choose Snapple—the schools did.”
