NEW YORK Six New York-based design firms have been chosen to develop a logo for NYC2012, the group lobbying the International Olympic Committee to locate the 2012 Summer Games here.

The firms participating are BIG/Ogilvy & Mather, Design Machine, Doyle Partners, Landor Associates, Pentagram Design and Sagmeister. Each firm will be given a $1,000 honorarium for its participation, said Amy Stanton, director of marketing and communications at NYC2012.

“Once we entered the international phase, we decided to develop a new identity which has a more international feel, is more communicative of the Olympic movement, and communicates the energy and spirit of New York,” Stanton said.
