Nothing but Nets

The New Jersey Nets may not be playing great basketball, but TDA Advertising & Design’s first ads for the team show a family-oriented side that may not appear in some highlight films.
The Longmont, Colo., shop is debuting two 30-second, regional cable spots Nov. 18 for the NBA team. In one, a girl’s family goes to a game; “Take your family of four to see the Nets,” says a voiceover, adding that “we’ll work something out,” if one’s family is larger. In the other ad, a dad dribbles badly.
The spots tout the Nets McFamily cross-promotion with McDonald’s. The effort was project-based, said TDA cd Jonathan Schoenberg, as the Nets work with Kerwin Communications, West Caldwell, N.J. “Ideally, we’ll do more work for them,” he said. Melissa MacCaull, director of marketing with the East Rutherford, N.J., client, said future work with TDA was possible.
Stations running the ads include ESPN. Spending was undisclosed. Washington Square Films produced the ads; Peter Sillen directed them.
