Last week, the Environmental Protection Agency released a report that classifies environmental tobacco smoke as a ‘Class A’ carcinogen, the chemical known to cause cancer in humans. The CDC, through its Office on Smoking and Health, has released a media campaign of TV and radio PSAs and 10 magazine and newspaper ads to media outlets nationwide.
Anyone can receive the ‘Action Guide,’ which includes a brochure and kit advising consumers how to get smoking out of their lives. The kit has tips for eliminating smoke in the home, how to approach employers for a smoke-free workplace, how to suggest to a restaurant that a smoking section is bad for business, and how to work with the local media to increase awareness.
The campaign and ‘Action Guide’ were created by Arian, Lowe, Travis & Gusick, Chicago.
