Network Taps Harris

Harris Drury Cohen’s Stan Harris has been named chairman of Worldwide Partners’ North American region.

“Stan has a strong marketing and senior management background that will benefit Worldwide as we continue to grow,” said Patricia Fiske, president of the Aurora, Colo.-based organization.

Established in 1938, WP is a network of owner-operated agencies in 50 countries with combined annual billings in excess of $4 billion.

Member agencies act as each other’s branch offices, sharing information, market expertise, training, joint buying and other resources.

Rick Nerland, president of The Nerland Agency in Anchorage, Alaska, detailed the benefits his remote shop enjoys as a WP member.

“When we pitched the McDonald’s Alaska business, we contacted six agencies within our network that handled [the client] and gained a quick understanding of what it would take to service the account,” he said.

When Nerland won the Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute account, WP member Grant Jacoby in Chicago handled the media placement

Harris, 52, chairman and founding partner of HDC in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., has served two years on WP’s board of directors. He also worked on the network’s long-range planning committee. “We’re looking to articulate what we’re doing, which is to be more ‘client-centric,’ ” said Fiske.

“This is an important time for Worldwide,” said Harris. “We’re acting like a coordinated unit on behalf of clients. The future is for us to be a strong service organization.”
