Network Bazaar Begins to Mobilize





NEW YORK – The network marketplace is slowly getting into gear for 1st QTR business. ‘There’s a lot of sniffing around and a lot of positioning,’ said Ayer senior vp Aaron Cohen. ‘The next two weeks will be fairly active.’ There has been some activity in prime, but not enough to get a good read on which way the market’s heading. ‘We think everybody’s got a lot to sell,’ said Cohen. News and daytime have been moving, with the latter well above upfront. But the hottest dayparts, early morning and latenight, are also among the smallest. In sports, CBS had a big week with its NCAA packages – the net is said to be getting its asking price of 12 percent, by and large.
