Mergers and acquisitions in the Internet space edged higher last month compared with January, though such activity was down 71% from February 2000, WebMergers.com reported.

M&A activity reached $5.8 billion in February, up from $5.3 billion the previous month. In February 2000 — before the Internet bubble burst — it totaled an impressive $20 billion.
