NBC Cuts Palisades From Review

NEW YORK NBC has cut independent Palisades Media Group from its media review, sources said.

The other six contenders have all advanced. Moving into the finals are the three incumbents: independent Horizon Media, MDC Partners’ Media Kitchen and Publicis Groupe’s MediaVest, as well as Interpublic Group’s Initiative and deutschMedia, and Publicis Groupe’s Fallon, per sources.

Palisades is based in Santa Monica, Calif.

Agencies either declined comment or did not return calls. NBC has declined to comment during the review process, which began in July.

NBC spent $140 million in measured media in 2004, according to TNS Media Intelligence.

The review covers all client-owned properties, including NBC, CNBC, USA, Sci-Fi, Bravo and Telemundo. Incumbent Horizon handles buying chores, while MediaVest and Media Kitchen share planning duties.

NBC had initially intended to make a final decision by the end of this month, but sources said the selection would likely be delayed until early October, with work to begin in the new year.
