National Geographic Channel Hires Union

NEW YORK National Geographic Channel has awarded its ad account to Union without a review, following two years of project-based work, the agency said.

The four-year-old network has hired the New York independent shop to create TV, print and interactive advertising that will continue to brand the channel, as well as for specific programs such as Explorer.

The shop had previously created six TV spots for the channel. The ads show people who had such an intense experience while watching the NGC’s shows, they believed they were actually there and described the programs in later conversations as first-person adventures, said Union creative director Nelson Martinez.

“It’s the notion of being there with the show and programming so powerful that you feel like you’re there,” Martinez said.

Union also creates advertising for AMC and has worked with Comedy Central, Spike TV and Food Network, according to agency CEO Michael O’Callahan.

Annual billings were not disclosed.
