CHICAGO National City is set to award its $40 million advertising account to Interpublic Group’s Campbell Mithun, according to sources. The bank’s previous agency was Campbell-Ewald.

The Minneapolis agency beat independent agency Blattner Brunner, Pittsburgh, for the business, according to sources. Agency executives at the shops either couldn’t be reached or declined comment.

A National City representative declined to confirm the selection.

Campbell Mithun will handle all of the banks brand and retail marketing and advertising, including strategic planning, creative and media duties.
