Nathan Brown is the new U.S. CEO of PHD, succeeding Robert Habeck, who was named to the job last September and is now president of North America global accounts at PHD parent Omnicom Media Group.
Brown was previously evp, managing director at Interpublic Group’s UM New York, where he was an eight-year exec and a member of the Global Leadership Council. He starts at PHD on Oct. 1.
Brown began his career in Australia and worked on KFC, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell at Carat. After joining UM Australia in 2006, he led the agency’s Unilever business, its largest account. After moving to UM in America in 2010, he became U.S. head of strategy and managing director of the flagship New York office.
His predecessor, Robert Habeck, was named to the PHD job after former PHD CEO Monica Karo moved back to sister Omnicom company OMD as the U.S. CEO.
Brown is the latest defection from Interpublic’s Mediabrands. In May, Kristi Argyilan, president of Magna Global, North America, left to join Target as svp, media and guest engagement. In June, Jacki Kelley, the former North America CEO of Mediabrands, said she was leaving to join Bloomberg Media as COO. And that month Michael Brunick, the head of programmatic operations within Magna Global, exited for a role at consulting firm Unbound.
