Mullen Names Lea New-Business Boss

BOSTON Mullen today appointed Melissa Lea evp, director of business development, filling a long vacant post at the Interpublic Group agency.

In her new role, Lea will oversee all new-business development for the Wenham, Mass., agency and its operations in Winston Salem, N.C., Pittsburgh and Detroit.

She joins from Havas’ Arnold, Boston, where she worked for seven years, departing in December as svp, marketing and business development. At Arnold, her post was filled by Phil Reilly, who had been svp, integrated marketing director.

“Melissa’s experience will enable us to pursue new opportunities while the rest of us can stay focused on our current clients,” said Mullen ceo Joe Grimaldi, who along with creative chief Edward Boches has been leading new-business efforts for the shop. During her tenure, she helped the shop win accounts such as Boston Market, the American Legacy Foundation, Royal Caribbean and The Hartford.

“I considered several agencies before joining Mullen,” said Lea. “What impressed me the most about the agency was the quality of the people and their steadfast dedication to building their clients businesses.”
