MTVi, RioPort Join In Digital Harmony

In a move that the two companies are calling online music history, the MTVi Group and music application service provider RioPort.com Inc. have joined in an agreement that will make legal and secure music from all five major labels available from within any of MTVi’s family of Internet properties, including MTV.com, VH1.com, SonicNet.com and Country.com.

The initiative will begin rolling out by the end of this month. In related news, MTVi announced the launch of Radio MTV.com and VH1atWork Radio. The Internet radio stations, which use RioPort’s PulseOne Media Service, will similarly link the e-tailing capability so that users can acquire the music they’re listening to in an integrated experience.

The nonexclusive deal includes downloads and streamed files from BMG Entertainment, EMI, Sony Music Entertainment, Universal Music Group and Warner Music Group as well as such independents as Artemis Records and its affiliates.
