DDB New York named Abigail Hirschhorn chief marketing officer. She is charged with building the presence and profile of DDB New York, and will oversee all business development, marketing, and public relations efforts for the agency. A 10-year veteran of the shop, she has been chief strategic officer since 1997. The recognized force behind DDB New York’s highly regarded strategic consulting capabilities, Hirschhorn is also credited with building the DDB planning department into one of the industry’s strongest. She is the creator and executor of the popular “Brand Foundations in a Day” seminar for CEOs.
Nikki Larosa and Andrés Orrego have landed at Chowder in New York in the roles of account supervisor and senior art director, respectively. Previously, each worked at The Lord Group in New York, where Larosa was an account executive and Orrego was an assistant art director.
Horizon Media named Leslie Engel senior vice president, director of human resources and employee initiatives. She most recently was director of human resources at Siegelgale in New York. In addition, Horizon hired three other staffers. Dennis Camlek was appointed an account supervisor, working on The History Channel, A&E International and Florida’s Natural; he formerly served as media planning supervisor at Independent Media Services in New York, where he handled all of the account management, media buying and media planning activity for the VH1 business. Katie Counts and Cindy DuBosq were hired as media planners; Counts previously was a media planner at Universal McCann in New York, and DuBosq had been a media planner at Bozell in New York. New York-based Horizon has a full-service office in Los Angeles and also has offices in Atlanta and Amsterdam, Netherlands.
David Brooks was appointed president, marketing at Focus Features. He is based in New York. Brooks previously was at Miramax Films for 12 years, most recently serving as executive vice president and co-head of marketing. Focus Features, which is based in New York, is the specialty films unit of Universal Pictures, a division of Vivendi Universal Entertainment; VUE is the U.S.-based film, TV and recreation entity of Vivendi Universal.
Primedia hired John French as vice president of sales operations for Primedia Business Magazines & Media, a newly created position. He is based in New York. French formerly was vice president/group director for the Penton Electronics Group. Primedia Business Magazines & Media, which is based in Overland Park, Kan., is a division of New York-based Primedia.
Laura Del Greco joined Warner Music Group as vice president, corporate integrated marketing, a newly created position. She is based in Burbank, Calif. Del Greco most recently was director, corporate marketing and worldwide promotion at WMG sister company Warner Bros. New York-based WMG is an AOL Time Warner company.
Edie Emery was promoted to senior account director in Goodman Media International’s Washington office. Emery formerly served as account manager. Goodman Media is based in New York.
Media Logic in Albany named Anne Marie White an account supervisor; she will work on accounts such as MountainOne Financial Partners, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and Ross University. Prior to joining Media Logic, White served in various management roles at several interactive marketing firms located in the Albany area and New York City.
MRA hired two new staffers. Erin Lanzafame joined the Syracuse-based agency as an assistant account executive in the account services department; she most recently served as a sales associate for Crate and Barrel in Chestnut Hill, Mass. Christine Walker was appointed a graphic designer in the creative department; she previously worked as a media director at Smart Media Productions.
Triad Strategies has launched a new strategic communications division, which is headed by Tony May, whose new title is senior vice president for communications. The new division is based in Harrisburg. May formerly was executive vice president, new business director at Neiman Group. Triad is based in Harrisburg and also has an office in Philadelphia.
Lancaster-based Kelly Michener hired four staffers. W. Christopher Fahringer was appointed an assistant account executive; he most recently worked as a project coordinator at Philadelphia’s Institute for Survey Research. Mitch Witmer was named an art director; he formerly was an art director at Stoner Bunting Advertising. Michele Herbert joined as an account executive; she previously was marketing communications manager for TVC Communications in Annville. Mark Montgomery was hired as director of production and traffic; he most recently served as account manager at Tursack Printing in Morgantown.
