Deutsch hired Lorraine Arado as executive vice president, group account director for its $80 million Revlon and Almay business, the agency said. She reports to managing partner, director of client services Val DiFebo. Arado succeeds Adam Levine, executive vice president, brand director, who is shifting account responsibilities. Arado joined the New York shop last week from Working Class, a boutique ad agency where she was managing director and partner. Working Class’ clients include Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, Nina Footwear and New York Life MainStay Funds.
Horizon Media promoted three staffers. Elyse Pollock was elevated to senior vice president, account group head for the New York office; she formerly was vice president, account group head. Tara Kaess rose to account management supervisor; Kaess, who is based in the New York office, previ ously served as a senior account executive. Daniel Matovinovic was named an account executive; Matovinovic, who is also based in the New York office, most recently was a junior account executive. New York-based Horizon has a full-service office in Los Angeles and also has offices in Atlanta and Amsterdam, Netherlands.
Selina Watson joined The Lord Group in New York as account supervisor on the recently won Savin Corp. account; she previously was an account supervisor on the Oxford Health Plans, EBS and American Red Cross accounts at Vogt/Wein in Westport, Conn. In addition, Jessica Weissberg was appointed an assistant account executive on the HIP and Savin accounts at The Lord Group; she is a recent graduate of Emory University in Atlanta. The Lord Group is a subsidiary of Spier New York.
New York-based Tacoda Systems hired Robert Tas as vice president of sales and marketing, a newly created position. He previously served as chief customer officer/executive vice president at CapitalThinking in New York.
Dean Crutchfield joined Wolff Olins as U.S. director of marketing, a newly created position. He is based in the New York office. Crutchfield most recently was marketing director at Landor Associates in New York. London-based Wolff Olins, part of Omnicom Group, also has offices in San Francisco; Madrid, Spain; Lisbon, Portugal; and Tokyo.
Fred Tietze was hired as director, Marketing Solutions Group for Reader’s Digest magazine, a new post. He will oversee Reader’s Digest’s integrated group, creative and marketing services, custom publishing and partnerships, among others. Tietze formerly was director of Integrated Marketing Solutions at Gruner + Jahr. Reader’s Digest is published by Pleasantville-based The Reader’s Digest Association.
Landor Associates promoted Hayes Roth to vice president, worldwide marketing and business development, a newly cre ated position. Roth, who is based in the company’s New York office, previously was vice president of marketing. San Francisco-based Landor is part of WPP Group.
Kevin Arthur was elevated to vice president, business development at Firstborn Multimedia in New York. He formerly was a producer at the company.
Smithsonian magazine hired two staffers. Thomas Madden was appointed New York manager; he previously was a category manager at Harvard Business Review. Caryl Heard was named sales development manager; she formerly was a senior account manager for Fast Company magazine. Heard, along with Madden, is based in the publication’s New York office. Smithsonian, based in Washington, is published by Smithsonian Business Ventures.
Media Logic in Albany hired Matthew Enos as an associate creative director. He previously worked as a freelance marketing consultant for the Provincetown International Film Festival. Prior to that, he served as a senior copywriter at the former Frierson Mee & Partners in New York.
Darcy Lewis joined T3 (The Think Tank) as a media supervisor for the newly opened New York office. She formerly was media supervisor for WorldCom at Euro RSCG MVBMS Partners. T3 is based in Austin, Texas.
The MWW Group promoted Jennifer Beck to vice president in the public affairs department. She will continue to oversee MWW’s Trenton office as general manager and will take on added public-affairs client-management responsibilities. MWW, based in East Rutherford, is an independent brand of Golin/Harris International and part of Interpublic Group.
SFGT in Philadelphia hired Liz Wheeldon-Wyatt as a creative director. An art director by training, she will share work on agency accounts with creative director Betty Londergan, a copywriter. Wheeldon-Wyatt most recently served as vice president/senior creative manager at Mangos in Malvern, working on financial accounts such as Scudder Investments, Fleet Meehan Specialists and Centre.
