BBDO Chicago promoted Will Cannon to vice president, creative director. Cannon will work on the Wm. Wrigley Jr. Co. and Illinois Tourism accounts. Cannon came to BBDO last year as a creative director from Leo Burnett’s Tokyo office. Alex Murray, who joined the shop in 1999 as a senior copywriter, was promoted to vice president and creative director. He also handles the Wrigley and Illinois Tourism accounts, among others.
Rhea & Kaiser in Naperville hired the following staffers: Michael Hurt, who will be media supervisor; Danielle Troy, who was named account executive; and Neil Johnson and Karen Sun, who were both appointed account coordinators. Promoted at the agency were Joshua Hernandez, to lead interactive designer; Amy Buhrow, to account executive; and Michelle Moore, to assistant account executive.
DDB Chicago named creative team Tom Murphy and Sean Bryan vice presidents. Both are creative directors and joined the shop in 1998.
At Abelson-Taylor in Chicago, Noah Lowenthal and Eric Pernod were appointed senior art directors. Lyndsey Bykowski and Marissa Ori were promoted to copywriter. Also, Ginny Schroeder becomes account director and Meredith Keroff takes the title of senior account executive. New at the agency are Kristen Heyl, an account executive, and Charles Capek and Kathleen Finerty, both proofreaders.
Peter “Zeke” Zalinski joined Italia Advertising in Chicago as a graphic designer.
Don Nelson joined Chicago Creative Partnership as senior vice president and creative director. He formerly was a creative director at Cramer-Krasselt in Chicago.
Kris Moorman has joined Porter & Associates, West Des Moines, in the newly created position of vice president of strategic planning. Previously, Moorman was a consultant and marketing strategist for several companies, including Motorola, Schaumburg, Ill.
Cheryl Miller was promoted to senior vice president and media director at Zimmerman, Laurent & Richardson in Des Moines. She had been a media director at the shop since 1997.
The Berline Group in Bloomfield Hills hired Kenn Hermann as media planner. Hermann formerly was with Vaughn Custom Sports.
Jeff Calcott was named an account assistant at Marx Layne & Co. in Farmington Hills. He previously worked at WTVQ-TV in Lexington, Ky.
NKH&W, a full-service agency in Kansas City, hired three new employees and promoted two staffers. The new hires are Gina Scheve, media buyer, Rick Nobles, vice president and director of marketing services, and Jennifer Gartman, accounting specialist. Todd Rein was promoted to associate media director, and Rick Purnell was elevated to manager of public relations.
Barkley Evergreen & Partners, Kansas City, hired Steve Bawden as senior vice president/brand team leader. Previously, Bawden was a senior vice president at Bates USA.
Luis Gumucio was named creative director of Graff Advertising & Design in Kansas City. Gumucio most recently ran his own design firm in Chicago, Gumuciodesign.
Valentine Radford in Kansas City hired Greg Kirsch, who joins as vice president and director of new business development, and Brian Wolf, who becomes director of spot broadcast. The agency promoted Ted Tronnes to associate creative director; Megan Fitsimons, to media planner; Kurt Lorenz, to media supervisor; Robert Samples, to network manager in the IT department; Beth Evans, to senior account manager; Lisa Johnson, to manager of agency accounting; Mike Davis, to senior art director; and Dudley Burt, to senior designer.
