Peter Kines was appointed executive vice president at The Cyber Group Corp. in Mineola, responsible for promoting the CGC’s editorial-research program, among other programs, as well as the company’s brand image. He previously served for about 10 years at Departures magazine as sales development manager, developing marketing strategies and sales presentations that helped Departures double its advertising sales level in the 1990s. Prior to that, he was marketing director at Architectural Digest magazine. During that time, he also designed and taught an evening course in magazine marketing for New York University’s Certificate Program in Magazine Publishing.
John Hegarty, chairman and worldwide creative director of Bartle Bogle Hegarty, was named honorary chairman of the 2002 International ANDY Awards. He will lead the 2002 International ANDY Awards and help select creative directors worldwide for the jury. The International ANDY Awards was established by the Advertising Club of New York in 1964.
Comedy Central in New York promoted two executives. Christopher Pergola rose to senior vice president and chief financial officer; he most recently served as senior vice president, finance and strategic planning. Lee Barden was elevated to controller; he formerly worked as vice president of financial planning and programming finance.
Warren Kremer Paino Advertising appointed Holly Jaffe vice president, creative director. Prior to joining the New York-based agency, she served as a freelance creative director in New York.
Media Logic in Albany appointed Scott Rodgers associate creative director. He most recently worked as operations manager and program director at Schenectady-based communications company BCB.
Patty Sins was named director of marketing at FOX News Channel in New York. She previously was director of marketing for ClickThings. FNC is owned by News Corp.
Eric Mower and Associates appointed Kevin Mann an associate creative director. He will be working in the agency’s Rochester and Syracuse offices. Mann most recently worked for Comgroup, a division of MRA.
Rick Blume was hired as vice president of database marketing at 21stAZ Mar keting. Prior to joining the Farmingdale-based company, he was president/group vice president, List Management Group with MSGi Direct, formerly Stevens-Knox.
MRA, which has offices in Syracuse and Atlanta, promoted Karen Shaffer to account executive in the public relations department, responsible for the account management and implementation of public relations activities for the CTIA Wireless Foundation, among others. Shaffer formerly served as an assistant account executive. In addition, the agency appointed Nicole Tehan an assistant account executive in the public relations department; she is a recent graduate of LeMoyne College.
Brian J. Ganton & Associates named Mark Ganton director of business devel opment, a newly created position. He most recently worked as a senior account executive with the Cedar Grove-based firm.
Gillespie in Princeton named Charles Weiss vice president and general manager at its magazine marketing group. He previously served as national sales manager in the financial technology network and business technology group at CMP Media in New York.
Kel Smith was appointed manager of interface design for the newly formed interactive team at Dudnyk Healthcare Group, which has offices in Horsham and San Francisco. He formerly worked as interactive art director for The Star Group in Cherry Hill, N.J. Separately, Mary Foster was promoted to director of project management at Dudnyk Advertising and Public Relations, a newly created position. She previously was senior print production manager at Dudnyk Healthcare Group. Both Dudnyk Advertising and Public Relations and Dudnyk Healthcare Group are owned and operated by CommCor.
Frank Wlodarczyk, president of Pomco Graphic Arts, was elected to the exec utive board of the Philadelphia-area Graphic Arts Association of Dela ware Valley as second vice chairman. Wlodarczyk, who has been a member of GAA since 1998, has served on the board of directors for the last three years. Pomco is based in Philadelphia.
Roska Direct hired three staffers. Tom Kempisty was appointed director, account management; prior to joining the Montgomeryville-based agency, he worked as vice president, marketing and sales at MedCases in Philadelphia. Emily Lomicky was hired as a Web developer on the agency’s technology team; she previously served as an IT consultant at Commerce One. Michael Scott was named senior copywriter; he most recently worked at Harte-Hanks Direct in Langhorne.
