McCann-Erickson Worldwide, New York, made several executive changes. Eric Keshin was promoted to general manager and chief operating officer of McCann-Erickson New York, effective Jan. 1. He was previously executive vice president, chief operating officer. Keshin and Nina DiSesa, chairman and chief creative officer, will be responsible for the performance of the New York agency. Keshin will also take on responsibilities previously handled by the regional director of McCann-Erickson North America, a post recently filled by Tony Miller, formerly chairman of MacLaren McCann in Toronto. Mark Gault was promoted to executive vice president and director of worldwide accounts at McCann-Erickson Worldwide. He was previously chairman of McCann-Erickson Japan and area director for Korea and Taiwan. Succeeding him at the Tokyo agency are Max Gosling, who has been elevated to president and chief executive officer from vice chairman, and Koh Sakata, who advanced to president. Peter Hamilton, regional director of McCann-Erickson Asia Pacific, will take over Gault’s area director duties. Finally, chief financial officer Sal LaGreca was promoted to vice chairman, finance and operations, at McCann-Erickson WorldGroup. He was previously an executive vice president.
Kevin Roddy, a copywriter at Cliff Freeman and Partners, New York, was the first speaker in The One Club’s 1999 Gold on Gold lecture series. Roddy and art director Kilpatrick Anderson created the Foxsports.com TV campaign that won the 1999 One Show Gold Pencil and Best of Show awards.
Angotti, Thomas, Hedge, New York, hired John Roberts, a former advertising executive at Sony, to help oversee major accounts such as Fujifilm U.S.A., Barron’s and Foster’s Lager. He will carry the title of group account director and work alongside chief operating officer Terrie Paladino. Since 1994, Roberts had worked at Sony Electronics in Park Ridge, N.J., lastly as a director of advertising. Before that, Roberts held account-management jobs at the former Lintas, as well as at Foote, Cone & Belding and Bates USA.
More former executives at Ammirati Puris Lintas have accepted jobs within the newly merged Lowe Lintas & Partners, New York. Rob Feakins and Roger Bentley, co-creative directors at APL, have become creative director and group creative director, respectively. APL media director Tom Cunningham will retain that title at the New York office of Lowe Lintas, while Lowe’s top media executive, Alan Jurmain, assumes a U.S. role: director of integrated media services. Andrea Sessler, manager, director of human resources at APL, keeps that title at Lowe Lintas. The new agency, meanwhile, will be located in APL’s old building at One Dag Hammarskjold Plaza.
Earle Palmer Brown, New York, named Roberta Weinstein managing partner, direct marketing. She most recently served as chief operating officer at J. Walter Thompson division ThompsonConnect Worldwide, where she was responsible for the Merrill Lynch direct response programs. In addition, David Haan was promoted to president of EPB Interactive from managing partner, Earle Palmer Brown, Philadelphia.
Wunderman Cato Johnson, New York, named Gene Meken executive vice president, global finance, and chief financial officer. He spent 12 years as an executive at PepsiCo. Kevin Lavan advanced to executive vice president of global mergers and acquisitions and worldwide technology officer from global head of finance and technology.
Greg Davis joined Hampel/Stefanides, New York, as senior vice president, director of business development.
He had been director of business development at Berlin Cameron & Partners, also in New York.
M/K Advertising, New York, has named Garth Wingfield senior copywriter. He had worked at agencies such as Mulryan/Nash and Grey Entertainment. In addition, Tatiana Kelly was promoted to senior account executive from account executive and David Miggins advanced to account executive from account coordinator.
John Hoeschele, vice president, creative services, at Sage Marketing Communications in Syracuse, received the 40 Under 40 award last month.
The honor, presented by companies in the Syracuse business community, honors central New Yorkers for their professional success and community involvement.
Hill and Knowlton, New York, named Deborah Spicer Tompkins a managing director. She will lead the high-tech and media relations practices in its Atlanta office.
She arrives from BellSouth Corp., where she was assistant director of corporate media relations.
Siegel & Gale, New York, named Richard Smith creative director and Ben Hermel design director. Smith most recently worked on book projects for publisher Schirmer Mosel in Munich. Hermel was previously associate creative director at Enterprise IG in New York. Peter Rae was also named creative director at the firm’s European headquarters in London. Most recently, he served as creative director and board director at Tango in London.
Icon Lifestyle Marketing, New York, added three staffers. Richard Priest joined the agency as associate director of special events. Troy White was named director of entertainment; he had been promotions and marketing director at Red Ant, a record label. Valerie Ferguson was named account director; she had been an account supervisor at Mad Dogs & Englishmen.
Cyrk, New York, named Debra Brown president of its custom product and licensing division. She was previously president of ThompsonConnect.
Media Logic, Albany, hired Ivan Marrero as a graphic artist. He joined the agency from Lower Forty, where he was a graphic designer.
United Stations Radio Networks, New York, added three staffers to its ad sales team. Kathi Iannacone was named senior account executive; she was most recently account executive, client marketing services at WNEW. Caroline Forbes and Molly Nason were both named account executive; Forbes rejoins USRN from Strategic Media Research and Nason previously served as an advertising sales executive at Encore magazine.
King Features Syndicate, New York, promoted Frank Caruso to vice president, creative, from creative director, licensing.
Kopf Zimmermann Schultheis in Hauppauge added two staffers.
Christine Mohr joined the company as copywriter from Publishers Clearing House. Stacey Rothbart was named account executive; she most recently worked at Computer Associates International.
The Jordan, Edmiston Group, New York, named Claudia Flowers associate managing director. She was most recently vice president of finance at Medical Economics Co.
National Foods, the Bronx-based manufacturer of Hebrew National kosher hot dogs and deli meats, promoted Leigh Platte to director of marketing. Platte joined the company from Grey Advertising, where he managed Hebrew National and such accounts as ConAgra, 3M consumer products, Remington Shavers and Red Lobster.
The Attik, New York, has assembled a creative services team, to be headed by newly appointed vice president of creative services Stephen Kinney. The division also includes creative services managers Steve Lucker and Kelly Keel.
Mark Martiak joined online direct response agency Flycast Communications as senior sales director for its Northeast team. Martiak will be responsible for the New York and New England territories. He had been the Eastern region sales director for Forbes.com.
John DeFranco advanced to executive vice president, director of account services at Bozell Global Healthcare, Fort Lee. He was previously director of account services, at Lewis Gace Bozell, which recently merged with Dugan/Farley Communications to form Bozell Global Healthcare. Vivian Pagoulatos joined the agency as vice president, group account supervisor, from Lowe Healthcare Worldwide. Clare Carroll was named account supervisor; she most recently worked at
Prudential Health Care. Summer Sharaf was hired as an account executive from Innovex, where she was a pharmaceutical sales representative.
Hollyrock/Miller, Princeton, named Paula Kantenwein account executive.
She joins the agency from Rutgers University Press, where she was an editorial assistant.
Melissa Crandall joined DKB and Partners, Morristown, as finance administrator in the media department. She was previously continuity director at KPPX in Flagstaff, Ariz.
The Xchange Group, the relationship-marketing arm of CommonHealth, Parsippany, promoted one staffer and hired three. Nancy Barlow advanced to senior vice president, managing director. Joelene Guzman joined the agency as senior account executive; she had worked at such companies as Paper-Direct and Genesis Direct in Secaucus. Susan Marx was hired as senior art director after serving as a designer and illustrator at Black Sheep Studio in Bernardsville. Eric Wool was named art director after stints at Harrison Wilson & Associates and Poppe Tyson.
