Young & Rubicam interactive unit Brand Dialogue has promoted two agency veterans to managing director. Anthony Manson, general manager in New York, became managing director of Brand Dialogue North America, and Pieter Vijn, vice president of interactive marketing in Europe, was named managing director of Brand Dialogue Europe.
Bozell Worldwide in New York elevated Paige Soltano to human resources director, New York
operations. She joined the shop in June 1996 as manager, professional recruitment.
Griffin Bacal, New York, has tapped Dario Spina and Jordan Berman as account executives. Spina comes from DDB Needham, New York, where he was an events and publicity specialist on the New York Lottery account; Berman comes from Lois/EJL, New York, where he was a senior account executive.
Priya Narang was elevated to senior vice president, media planning director at DeWitt Media, New York. She had been vice president, associate planning director at the agency.
Medical advertising agency Harrison & Star in New York tapped Anne Devereux as president. She was president of Consumer Healthworks, also New York, a direct-to-consumer shop affiliated with H&S.
Media Logic, Albany, has named Michelle Greenwood account executive on the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute business. She had been a direct marketing copywriter at Jardine Group Services in Latham. The shop also hired Kristin Riley as a graphic artist. Riley comes from World Management, a typesetting, layout and design service bureau in Albany, where she also served as graphic artist.
Jeffrey Johnston was named vice president, account services at Smith Advertising Group in Syracuse. He had been senior account manager at the agency.
Sherwood Outdoor, New York, has named Brian Turner president. Turner had been general sales manager of New York radio station WABC-AM.
Desgrippes Gobe & Associates, New York, has tapped Peter Levine to head DGA Consulting, a new strategic planning unit. Levine is a founding member of the agency and an executive creative director.
Bogen Public Relations, New York, reported three hires: Kristy Boer and Jeff McKinney were added as account executives and Edgar Lee was tapped as a marketing coordinator.
The NPD Group, an information marketing company based in Port Washington, named three new business unit presidents: Larry Moore as president, NPD Automotive Products; Bob O’Brien as president, NPD Food Information Group;
and Karyn Schoenbart as president, NPD Beauty, Home & Fashion. The company also promoted Arnie Schwartz to vice president, National Eating Trends; elevated Peter Sterbenz to vice president of the firm’s Custom East business unit and reported the retirement of Doreen Zavada, vice president, NPD Behavioral Tracking.
Ken Fox joins Hadke Associates, New York, as president of Hadke Annual Reports. A longtime consultant on annual report management and design, he was president and founder of Augusta Annual Reports.
Julian Parre-o was named senior vice president of the newly formed Harte-Hanks Pharmaceutical Sales Organization by New York-based Harte-Hanks Direct Marketing.
People, New York, has named Carl Melhope director of marketing strategy. Advertising sales representative Diane Danella replaces Melhope as a New York divisional advertising sales manager.
Inc., based in New York, has named Lisa Pearson Los Angeles manager. She was national advertising director of Golf for Women.
Coty U.S., New York, has named Eric Thoureux president. He was senior vice president, strategic development for Coty on a worldwide basis.
Jason Klarman was elevated to vice president, marketing at Fox News Channel in New York. He had been director of marketing at the cable TV news channel.
New York-based Seagram Americas has appointed two executives to handle its Absolut vodka brand.
James Schleifer, formerly marketing and communications director in Seagram’s Atlantic/Pacific region, was named marketing director; and Lisa DelBeccaro, formerly a vice president, consumer marketing practice at Edelman Public Relations Worldwide, was appointed director of public relations for the brand.
Forbes, New York, has elevated longtime editor James Michaels to vice president, editorial. Michaels will be succeeded as editor by William Baldwin, who has been managing editor of the magazine since 1997.
Steve Zales was named senior vice president, general manager of ESPN Internet Ventures, New York. Zales was most recently vice president, general manager of CNN/SI Interactive, a
joint venture between Time Warner divisions Cable News Network and Sports Illustrated.
Ted Demme, the director of Rounders and other feature films, has returned to directing commercial spots. He is represented by Creative Film Management in New York.
The Zimmerman Agency, a direct marketing shop based in Brookville, promoted Collette Coyne to vice president from management supervisor. The agency also tapped Louise Sorrentino as an account supervisor. She had been an assistant vice president, credit card marketing at Citibank.
Patrice Adcroft was named editor of Seventeen by Primedia Consumer Magazines, New York. She was most recently deputy editor of InStyle.
The Woolmark Co., New York, has named Stephanie Garbarini general manager, retail and marketing. She had been director of retail and marketing for J. Crew.
MuchMusic USA, Woodbury, has named Stefanie Nimick director, affiliate relations, central regions. She comes from FX Networks, where she was regional director, affiliate sales and marketing.
Mirabella, New York, has tapped Rachael Combe as beauty editor. She had contributed freelance health, beauty and fitness features to magazines such as Redbook, Mirabella, Mode, Elle and Good Housekeeping.
Westwood One in New York named Joel Hollander president, chief executive officer. Hollander was vice president, general manager of WFAN-AM in New York.
Gruner + Jahr USA in New York named Jeanne Sachs advertising director of YM. Sachs had been advertising manager of the New York-based magazine.
InStyle, New York, has tapped Cynthia McDaniel as special-projects editor. She was vice president, publicity at PolyGram unit Gramercy Pictures in New York.
The Hearst Group, New York, appointed two group advertising directors: Clifford Benjamin, formerly advertising director at Beyond Computing, and Susan Gable Sussman, formerly Eastern sales manager at TV Guide.
NEW JERSEY
Evette Rivera joins Scelba, Scelba DeTitta & Wolfson, Montville, as marketing coordinator. She comes from First Union bank, where she was a branch service manager.
Martin Gertler, formerly executive vice president The Rowland Company, has formed The Gertler Group, a marketing and marketing communications consultancy to be based in Mendham.
Shrewsbury-based ENA Marketing and Advertising added Randy DeFillipis as senior account executive and Dan Schantz as medical copywriter. DeFillipis comes from Lanmark Group, where he was an account execuitve. Schantz was most recently at Rutgers University, where
he worked as a teaching assistant in biology and as a writing tutor for undergraduates.
PENNSYLVANIA
The Weightman Group, Philadelphia, has promoted two senior managers: John McGeehan was elevated to vice president, director of account service, from team account director; Nat Gutwirth was raised to senior vice president, creative director, from team creative director.
DMW Worldwide, based in Wayne, has tapped Barbara McClure as president of the St. Louis office. She had been senior vice president, account group head of The McClure Group, one of four direct marketing agencies that merged earlier this month to form DMW.
Roska Direct, Montgomeryville, reported two hires: Kim Tarasiewicz as production manager and Ilana Halem as media coordinator. Tarasiewicz was formerly a senior production manager at Ted Thomas Associates, an advertising agency specializing in pharmaceuticals; Halem had been an account executive at Wahlstrom in Philadelphia, a Yellow Pages advertising agency.
CONNECTICUT
David O’ Brasky was named vice president, new business development at Stephen L. Geller, a Greenwich-based media buying service. He comes from USA Today, where he was a vice president.
O’Neal & Prelle in Hartford has promoted Melinda Smolkin from senior account executive to account supervisor in the firm’s advertising division. Smolkin works on the Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Connecticut; Saint Francis Care, New England Bank and Arrow Pharmacy and Nutrition Centers accounts.
Anson Smith has been appointed manager of client services for Carmody & Torrance in Waterbury. Smith was most recently head of ACS-Creative in Wallingford and has also worked at Aetna Life & Casualty.
Martino & Binzer in Avon has hired Laurie Noyes and Melanie McMillan. Noyes is a media director who worked most recently with O’Neal & Prelle in Hartford. McMillan, director of public relations, was a public relations account supervisor at Mintz & Hoke, also in Avon.
