NEW YORK Bozell Worldwide, based in New York, has named Claudio Pella executive vice president, Bozell Latin America. He replaces Calvin Mew, who is taking a sabbatical. Earle Palmer Brown, New York, has hired Susan Palombo as senior vice president, account director. She had been a senior vice president at N.W. Ayer & Partners, also in New York. The Romann Group, New York, has named Aimee Heller associate creative director. She will oversee development of the newly acquired Auction Universe account. New York business-to-business shop Shaw & Todd has named Len Signorile co-creative director. Fayne Erickson has joined Lieber Levett Koenig Farese Babcock in New York as a vice president, group account director. Erickson was president of the National Association for Female Executives since last year. She began her career in 1977 at American Express; since then, she has worked at Wunderman Ricotta & Klein, Ad Direct, AC&R Direct and The Marketing Department. Grey Direct, New York, has named Lawrence Kimmel president. Kimmel comes from DraftWorldwide, where he was executive vice president, director of business development. National Cable Communications, New York, has elevated Melinda Medley to supervisor, research and marketing. She joined NCC in 1995 as a research and marketing analyst and was promoted to senior analyst in 1997. Katz Urban Dimensions, New York, named Baron Brown account manager. He will be responsible for new business development and sales in the Eastern region. Keith Lockhart was named executive vice president, marketing and operations, of the New York-based Interactive Advertising network. He has worked as a creative consultant for the past two years. Three staffers were added to BSMG Worldwide's technology practice in New York: Charlotte Harrington as account manager, Felice Gilder as senior account executive and Khrystine Muldowney as account executive. Simmons, New York, a specialist in consumer marketing and media information, has named Steven Carnevale senior vice president, new business development. He was most recently senior vice president, U.S. acceptance group, with MasterCard International. Harper's Bazaar in New York promoted Debra Pickrel to associate publisher, marketing. She had been director of marketing and creative services for the Hearst title. InStyle, New York, added four staff members to its sales department: Wendy Seeling as senior account manager, Los Angeles, Kristine Schreiber Hunt as executive beauty director, Mary Nissley as Detroit manager and Harry Yee as makeup manager. Wenner Media in New York named Deborah Cavanaugh executive director, group marketing. She comes from Men's Health, where she was associate publisher, marketing. Susan Smollens joins Parade, New York, as director of sales development. Smollens, who was working with the magazine as a consultant, was most recently vice president, research and marketing services at Hachette Filipacchi Magazines. Time Inc., New York, promoted Paul Gardephe to deputy general counsel, litigation. He joined the company in 1996 as associate general counsel. Siobahn Shea was named advertising sales account manager at FamilyFun magazine in New York. She had been a national advertising sales representative with Time Out New York. Emmis Communications has appointed Keith Crystal general sales manager of its New York radio station, WQCD-FM. He had been local sales manager of sister station WRKS-FM. MovieFone, New York, added two members to its advertising staff: Robert Squeri, formerly vice president, sales promotions, at Lanc(tm)me Cosmetics, as advertising director; Sharon Merle Lieberman, formerly account director at ACG Communications, as advertising manager; and Evan Cowitt, formerly of The Walt Disney Co., as director of sales and promotions. The Children's Television Workshop in New York has hired Robert Acquaotta as Eastern regional sales manager of Sesame Street Parents. Acquotta had been vice president, advertising sales, of TV Cable Guide, Total TV and See. Inc. in New York has named Amy DeJong Detroit regional manager of the magazine. She comes from Campbell-Ewald Advertising in Detroit. Lisa Caputo joins The Walt Disney Co. as vice president, communications and synergy, for New York-based Buena Vista Publishing. She comes from CBS Corp., where she was vice president, corporate communications. Gruner + Jahr USA in New York has named Sally Lee editor-in-chief of Parents Magazine. Lee had been editor-in-chief of Fitness. New York-based Hearst Magazines has appointed Nancy Soriano editor-in-chief of Country Living. She had been editor of the magazine. She succeeds Rachel Newman, who will focus on her other duties as editor-in-chief of Healthy Living. Peter Saad was elevated to vice president, associate group publisher, HFM Automotive Group, by Hachette Filipacchi Magazines in New York. Formerly vice president, Midwestern region, Saad will be responsible for Car & Driver and Road & Track. Glamour in New York reported two senior editorial hires: Henry Connell, formerly art director at Cosmopolitan, becomes the magazine's art director and Donald Robertson, formerly creative director at Cosmopolitan, becomes creative director. Women's Sports & Fitness, New York, has named Elizabeth Lemire as associate creative services director. She comes from Vogue, where she was promotion and retail director. The Reader's Digest Association in Pleasantville has named Dorvin Lively vice president. He comes from Silverado Foods, Tulsa, Okla., where he was vice president, chief financial officer and corporate secretary. Michael Williams was named vice president, chief information officer of The New York Times. He was vice president of information technology, chief technology officer at Seagram Co.'s wine and spirits group. NEW JERSEY Anne Moran was named account executive and research manager at Ritta & Associates, Englewood. She had been an account manager at database and market research firm The Polk Co. The Lunar Group, Parsippany, reported three new hires: Salar Ghahary as multimedia designer and programmer, Jorge Quintana as an account executive, Jamie Kupperman as account coordinator and Christine Carey as production billing manager. Keyes Martin, Parsippany, has hired Kate Ehrig as an account supervisor. She most recently worked at Marriott Corporate Services in New York. Geri O'Gorman has joined Gianettino & Meredith, Short Hills, as a media buyer and planner. She will be responsible for network TV and national consumer print buying for Benjamin Moore, as well as for various medical accounts. Russ, Berrie and Co., Oakland, has appointed Richard Burdi as director, advertising. He was vice president, marketing and advertising at Blenheim Group. PENNSYLVANIA Michelle Freed-Gold was elevated to vice president, media director at Intellimedia-LD&B in Horsham. She had been associate media director. Knezic/Pavone Advertising in Harrisburg elevated Amy Beamer to vice president. She joined the agency as a media buyer and traffic administrator in 1992. Dana Earhart was promoted to senior account executive at Media Marketplace in Newtown. She joined the shop in 1994 as an assistant account executive in the sales and marketing department. CONNECTICUT O'Neal & Prelle in Hartford has promoted Melinda Smolkin from senior account executive to account supervisor. Smolkin works on the Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Connecticut, Saint Francis Care, Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center and Arrow Pharmacy and Nutrition Centers accounts. Earle Palmer Brown, Greenwich, hired the following: Rick Leonard, vice president, formerly with Ketchum Public Relations; Marc Schwartz, account executive, from Stanton Crenshaw Communications; Kristin Stanley, account executive, from Wells BDDP; Janella Baanante, assistant account executive, formerly with Sixty Second Preview Movie; and Carrie Wilcox, account executive, from PaineWebber. Leonard will work on the Drake Beam Morin and Retail Target Marketing Systems accounts; Schwartz will assist Leonard on the same accounts.
