Melissa Pordy has joined Zenith Media, New York, as senior vice president, director of print services. She had been vice president, associate media director at Hill, Holiday/Altschiller, New York. Ellen Gutierrez has been tapped as director of Vanguard Advertising, New York, the newly established advertising arm of Vanguard Communications, a communications and public relations firm specializing in multicultural markets. The Ad Council, New York, has appointed Gregory Coleman, senior vice president and worldwide publisher of Reader's Digest, as chairman. Edward Reilly, president and chief executive officer of Big Flower Press, will succeed Coleman as vice chairman of media. The Advertising Women of New York has installed newly elected officers on its board of directors for 1998-99. People publisher Nora McAniff enters her second term as the group's president; Ellen Flahive, national advertising director, American Park Network/Meredith Corp., was elected first vice president; Celia Currin, director, marketing services, The Wall Street Journal, was named second vice president; Liz Schroeher, promotion director, DM News, was selected treasurer; Margie Goldsmith, president, MG Productions, was tapped as assistant treasurer; Connie Livsey, East Coast sales director, Live! magazine, was chosen recording secretary; and Janet Smith, vice president, advertising sales, USA Today, was selected corresponding secretary. Goodnight, Rav, Water Mill Square, has hired Kathee Burke as director of account services and promoted Andrea Boness to art director. Helshi Lockwood has been elevated to president of Emmis Publishing National Sales. EPNS handles advertising sales in New York and other regions for Delta Sky, Bride's, Cincinatti Magazine, Los Angeles, Texas Monthly, Indianapolis Monthly and Atlanta. Dana Tower has joined Agency.com, New York, as vice president, client services. She had been senior vice president, technology strategies at Forrester Research. BSMG Worldwide, New York, has elevated Gail Heimann to principal. Heimann is a senior managing director heading the company's consumer marketing practice in New York. Also, Don Morgan was named managing director of the firm and tapped as a member of its executive committee. BN Group, a Randolph-based full-service ad agency, has named Ron Marin account supervisor. He had been a senior account executive at Barton, Gilanelli & Associates, Philadelphia. Julie Baines was tapped by Oxford Communications, Lambertville, as an account executive. Angela DiBartolo, former president of Earle Palmer Brown Direct, Philadelphia, has joined The STAR Group, formerly RBT/Strum, Cherry Hill, as a managing partner. PENNSYLVANIA LD&B Advertising, Horsham, reported three new hires: John Gifford as art director, Maureen Farnsworth as computer graphic artist and Jenna Snowden as assistant account executive. Andy Schaer, senior vice president, director of technology accounts at Ketchum Advertising, Pittsburgh, was named ad agency executive of the year by the Pittsburgh chapter of the Business Marketing Association. Kevin Kane was named senior vice president, account services at Kingswood Advertising, Ardmore. Kane comes from Lieberman-Appalucci, where he served as senior vice president, general manager.
