Modernista! Names Chief of Staff

BOSTON Veteran creative manager Kelly Fredrickson has joined Modernista! as chief of staff, a new position, the agency said.

Fredrickson, 40, will oversee personnel matters including recruiting across all departments in the agency and be responsible for all creative work flow, according to Clift Jones, president of the independent agency here.

The agency last week added approximately $100 million in new General Motors business when the client shifted a large chunk of its Cadillac account to the agency from Publicis Group’s Leo Burnett [Adweek Online, March 3].

The shop has a staff approaching 100 people and also works for GM’s Hummer, Anheuser-Busch, Napster, TIAA-CREF, Animal Planet and Rockport.

Prior to joining Modernista!, Fredrickson spent seven years in a similar position at crosstown Interpublic Group-owned agency Hill, Holliday, Connors, Cosmopulos, where her most recent title was evp, creative manager. Before that, she served for three years as creatve services director and general manager at midsize Boston shop Heater Advertising following an earlier six-year stint at Hill, Holliday.

“Kelly’s professional reputation is pretty remarkable. She is the one who finds out what has to be done, by whom and what they need to accomplish the task. Then she makes it happen,” said Jones. “All the nontraditional work we do begs for hiring in a smart way, often identifying the people we need before we need them. Kelly can do that for us.”
