CHICAGO General Motors said it has promoted North American vice president of marketing and advertising John Middlebrook to vice president of global sales, service and marketing.

In the new post, Middlebrook, 63, will report to GM chief executive Rick Wagoner. Mark LaNeve, 45, divisional marketing general manager for GM’s Cadillac brand, will replace Middlebrook as North American vp of marketing and advertising. He will report to John Smith, group vice president of North American sales, service and marketing.
