DETROIT – The State of Michigan has used the slogan ‘YES M!CH!GAN’ since the mid 1980s. Now it is looking for new one, perhaps. Marcie Brogan, managing partner of Brogan & Partners, which handles the state’s travel and tourism account, said the state has asked the agency to evaluate the effectiveness of the slogan. Brogan said her response was to open it up to a contest among Michigan advertising and pr agencies to come up with a new slogan to focus-group test against the current line. Entries, which are due by the end of this week, will be judged by five members of the Department of Commerce and Agriculture, the Travel Bureau and the Governor’s Office, which will choose five slogans to test. There is no compensation for time and materials for the winner.
