Merge Acquires The Bowtie Agency

ATLANTA Merge said it has acquired The Bowtie Agency, an outsource sales and business development firm.

The Atlanta shops have combined operations to further promote their collective marketing offerings locally, as well as in select target markets, according to Merge. J. Tillman Douglas founded Bowtie in 2001 as a division of Douglas Sales Company, also in Atlanta.

Douglas will assume the role of director of sales at Merge and will be responsible for managing the agency’s new business development team. He also will leverage Merge’s strategic partnership with North Highland Company and represent the agency at the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce and the Small Business Council, the shop said.

Michael Taylor, founder and executive creative director at Merge, said that the shop hopes to create a new model in the advertising industry that offers a unique combination of design, technology and strategy to produce results for its clients.

“The addition of The Bowtie Agency will strengthen our ability to deliver on this vision,” Taylor added.

Financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed.
