Mercantile Bank Hires Carton Donofrio

ATLANTA After a review, Mercantile Bank said it has selected independent Baltimore shop Carton Donofrio Partners to provide advertising, media buying and public relations.

The Baltimore-based bank said it would spend $3.7 million on advertising next year. Mercantile operates 13 banks, a mortgage company and a wealth management division.

The bank did not identify nor disclose the number of agencies that participated in the review. Strategix/Noble Steed of Hunt Valley, Md., was the incumbent. The shop had held the Mercantile account for the past decade.

“We met with several qualified agencies and felt that Carton Donofrio Partners delivered a combination of experience and strategic thinking to help us meet our overall business objectives,” said Josias Cromwell, the bank’s marketing director.

CDP’s assignment includes broadcast, print and Internet ads, direct mail, in-bank promotions and the design of branch offices.
