Media Agencies: News Maker

Patrice M. “Pat” Dermody is one of eight recently named managing partners at DDB Needham, Chicago, where she has been executive vice president, media director since last April. Her department handles media for McDonald’s, Tyson Foods, Helene Curtis and State Farm Insurance, among others.

CAREER: After four years as a media assistant at the former Needham Harper & Steers, Dermody moved to the agency’s New York office as executive assistant to the director of corporate media in 1982. Rising to manager of corporate media and programming, she turned to the account side, directing the Hasbro and Milton Bradley accounts in 1987. She returned to Chicago the following year as media director at Lois/EJL, handling media for Huffy Bicycles and First Alert. In 1992, she moved to Dallas as executive principal, media director at Publicis/Bloom.
