M.D. Anderson Hires Fundraising Specialist

DALLAS Epsilon will design and manage direct mail fundraising for the University of Texas’ M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, including creative, media and production services, the marketing firm said.

Based in Wakefield, Mass., Epsilon designs software, hardware and staffing technology and provides services for multi-channel marketing and analysis. The company has reported strong growth in nonprofit fundraising recently with the recent addition of the Interfaith Alliance, National Parks Conservation Association and Planned Parenthood to its list of clients.

Thomas Gaffny, evp of client services at Epsilon’s fundraising group, said that one of the marketing firm’s missions would be to identify the best prospects for major gifts.

As an internationally known center for the diagnosis and treatment of cancer, M.D. Anderson has over the years attracted prominent donors in Texas and other states.

Last year, Texas philanthropists Red and Charline McCombs gave M.D. Anderson $30 million that will go toward the $500 million Red and Charline McCombs Institute for the Early Detection and Treatment of Cancer. In addition to money from the state and corporate donors, about $100 million is expected to be raised through fundraising efforts, according to the center.
