McMahon To Head Initiative Media’s Barter Business

NEW YORK — Brian McMahon has been named president and chief executive officer of Initiative Trading a business unit of Interpublic Group of Cos. Initiative Media Worldwide.

Initiative Trading provides domestic and international corporations the opportunity to exchange excess inventory for media. In addition, “bartering goods” enables companies to help control financial costs.

McMahon, who has been with the operation since its inception, will set the business direction and strategy for Initiative Trading. McMahon replaces Bob Ingram, who recently left the company to pursue other interests, an Initiative representative said.

Initiative Trading was founded in October of 1996 as Initiative Media Worldwide’s internal barter company. Prior to joining Initiative Trading, McMahon was Chairman of The Falcon Group, and was based in London, England.
