Nasdaq has narrowed the field of contenders for its $30 million account to McKinney & Silver in Raleigh, N.C., and J. Walter Thompson and Bouchez Kent & Co., both New York, sources said.

The New York-based stock market briefed the finalists last Tuesday on a creative assignment in preparation for pitches in mid-July, sources said. A decision is expected by the end of this month.

Eliminated from contention were Arnold of Boston and Grey, Young & Rubicam, Kirshenbaum Bond & Partners and incumbent Messner Vetere Berger McNamee Schmet-terer/Euro RSCG, all New York.
