McDonald’s, Warner in Home Video Deal

CHICAGO McDonald’s Corp. has signed a deal with Warner Home Video to have its spokescharacter, Ronald McDonald, star in a series of kid-targeted home videos, according to the companies.

The videos, which will be 30-minute, live-action shows featuring Ronald McDonald and a cast of kids, will be distributed worldwide in traditional video retail outlets. The first videos are expected in spring 2005.

“Ronald McDonald is a celebrity who connects with people of all ages and in all places,” said Jackie Woodward, vice president of global brand business at the Oak Brook, Ill.-based company, in a statement. “This new energy entertainment series features dozens of original songs and fun adventures that will get kids on their feet actively participating in the adventures.”

The deal does not affect McDonald’s cross-promotional deal with Disney, which runs until 2006, according to a company representative.
