McCann Picks Up ‘USA Today’

NEW YORK Interpublic Group’s McCann Erickson and Universal McCann have won USA Today‘s creative and media duties, respectively, the agency confirmed.

The account win came after a review that included McCann sibling The Martin Agency in Richmond, Va., and independent Cramer-Krasselt in Chicago, sources said.

No consultant was used. The client, the nation’s largest circulation daily newspaper, spent about $10 million on advertising last year, according to TNS Media Intelligence/CMR.

There was no creative or media incumbent.

USA Today is owned by Gannett in McLean, Va., and has an estimated domestic circulation of 2.2 million.
