NEW YORK Interpublic Group’s McCann-Erickson has successfully defended its global Vaseline account, sources said.

Unilever owns the Vaseline brands, which include Vaseline Intensive Care skin lotion and Vaseline petroleum jelly. Estimated spending on the account in the U.S. is about $15 million.

Late last year, the client began reaching outside McCann-Erickson, tapping fellow Unilever roster shop Publicis Groupe’s Bartle Bogle Hegarty to get strategic ideas on the account [Adweek, Dec. 9]. The decision came last week, sources said.
