McCann Gets More of Popeyes

Popeyes Chicken & Biscuits has awarded the Sailormen markets in seven states to McCann-Erickson Southwest.

Sailormen, a division of Interfoods, is Popeyes’ largest franchisee with 160 restaurants throughout the Southeast.

The new markets boost total Popeyes billings at McCann in Dallas from $8 million to more than $13 million. The added business also cements McCann’s position as the chain’s dominant regional agency.

McCann’s relationship with the fast-food chain began just over a year ago with the acquisition of Popeyes’ New Orleans and Central Gulf Coast regional markets. Since then, the agency has picked up 11 additional territories, as well as Popeyes’ entire network of independent operators.

McCann won the business following a review that included incum bent agency Adamson of St. Louis.

Sailormen is based in Miami.

“We’re real excited about the momentum we’ve got going on Popeyes,” said Mark Denesuk, McCann’s executive vice president and general manager for the Southwest. The Popeyes business will be consolidated at the agency’s recently opened office in New Orleans, he said.
