Marcus Thomas’ latest new-business win is a real shot in the arm.
Ohio-based Bedford Laboratories after a review has named the independent in Cleveland as its first lead agency.
A brand identity redesign and marketing materials are on tap for 2011. Spending was not disclosed.
Marcus Thomas partner Mark Bachmann said, “This is a category that is right now on the cusp of a tremendous growth spurt. There’s an all-time record number of drug products now coming off patent, plus new avenues in bio-identical research that promise to open up even more.”
Bedford Labs specializes in developing injectable oncology products and currently has more than 88 drugs on the market. The company is a unit of global powerhouse Boehringer Ingelheim, which uses WPP’s Mindshare for domestic media buying across all its brands.
Marcus Thomas works for a mix of consumer and business clients, including Nestle, Troy-Bilt, Diebold and MDT.
The agency has recently expanded its health-client roster. In addition to Bedford Labs, it added the seven-figure Okamoto condoms account in June.
